Travel Was Always Personal
Travel came to us in different ways. Daria started traveling abroad with her parents at age two. Alex left the country for the first time as an adult, after our paths crossed.
Our first trip together was Jordan. It changed how Alex saw the world, and it gave us a shared language for what travel could do: open perspective, create wonder, and make unfamiliar places feel deeply human.
Years later, our honeymoon took us backpacking through Europe. We couchsurfed in the Netherlands and Germany, choosing immersion over ease because our resources were limited, but our curiosity was not.
As our lives changed, our way of traveling changed too. Backpacks became carry-ons. Couchsurfing became boutique stays. What did not change was our desire to go beyond the obvious.
From Choreography to Curated Travel
Alex and Daria Smirnov spent years as professional ballroom dance coaches, learning how to understand each client’s needs, adapt their guidance, and create an experience that feels personal from the start. They bring that same care to travel. They bring that same thoughtful approach to travel.
We once asked for professional planning help and received a generic guide filled with places anyone could find in minutes. After sharing what mattered to us, we expected insight. Instead, we felt unseen.
Our entire coaching career had taught us the opposite. In dance, you cannot hand every student the same instruction and expect the same result. You study the person. You listen. You adapt.
